My Journey Update

My Journey Update

Hi, I have been visiting other blogs and see many recipes. Many of those recipes look and sound very delicious, however- I do not cook. My husband and I have different eating schedules. For me this will be a post on what works for me while on the Weight Watchers program.

During the week, I have 30 minutes for lunch break. Now my husband is retired and he is on his own schedule. I require quick and simple. The Healthy Choice dinners are very Weight Watcher (WW) friendly, either 5 or 6 points. Plus, the ones I have tried (see the above collage) are pretty tasty!

I am not limited to eating the frozen dinners. That is what I like most about the WW program. Nothing is off limits. The question is, ‘How do I want to eat my points?’.

What I discovered, is the individual portion sizes. This is perfect and very simple. The portion size has already been measured and points assigned. I have a healthy choice meal with a snack. Several snacks I found are pictured in the collage above. No need to measure or weigh. Fruits and vegetables are free, no point value.

The weekends are the challenge. This is the time my husband and I will eat our meals together. Those times are generally at a restaurant. Which is not easy to calculate point values. The WW app does have a list of the more popular restaurant menus and point values. However, Kevin’s favorite places to eat are the mom and pop locations. I stick with the vegetables, limiting bread. For protein, either egg, chicken, turkey or beans, my go-to’s.

Weight Watchers will acknowledge and reward my milestones. I am working on my 20lb charm! 🙂

I enjoy stopping by my folks house for a visit after my Saturday WW meetings. Being a photographer, taking pictures with my family is important. Especially now that my parents are in their upper 70’s. Side note, I recommend getting family pictures, at minimum, every 5 years. Families with young children, every other year.

Weight Watchers does not pay me to write about their program. Simply, it is working for me. Anyone who has a question about the program, I will gladly share my opinion and what works for me. It is in my opinion, loosing weight in a healthy manner will most definitely make you feel better. And as a person who takes her ‘happy pills’, feeling better is important!

  1. Well done on your weight loss that is fab! I have been using WW for a little while now and it really works for me. I like that it doesn’t make you feel restricted as to what you can eat.
Good luck with your next goal and thanks so much for sharing with #MMBC. 🙂

    1. Hi Jayne, it’s wonderful to meet another member of WW! Yes, knowing I can eat anything is key. I really never eat a whole lot. What amazed me, was how many points the foods I was consuming the point value of them! WW has certainly opened my eyes, educated me on serving size appropriate. This is most definitely a life changer for me!

      Take care and best wishes.

  2. Congratulations on your weight loss and finding something that makes you happy and works for you! That’s wonderful. That’s always the challenge for me–when I’m eating with other people. 🙂 I like those Healthy Choice frozen lunches myself. 🙂 And YES about the family photos!! Thank you for sharing this post at Will Blog for Comments linkup #5.

    1. You are most welcome, Jennifer. Yes, I have finally found a program that works for me. I always get nervous/anxious on Friday evenings. My weigh in day is Saturday.

      Take care and best wishes.

  3. Congrats on the weight loss! I love that WW makes it so easy to customize. Those veggie straws are one of my favorite go to snacks when I’m craving salty and crunchy.

  4. Good job and good luck on keeping your diet going. Weight Watchers is great. I once lost about 25 pounds on it. Now I do intermit fasting. I lost a couple of pounds. I haven’t been doing it for very long so I can’t recommend it yet. Hopefully one day I will!

    1. Intermit fasting is something I do not think I could do. I enjoy eating too much! You will definitely need to keep me posted on how this goes for you!

      Take care and best wishes.

  5. Huge congrats and great for you to be of WW. I have done that yonks ago just after the kiddos were born, and it did work for me as well. We have moved so I may have to do some investigation to find another WW in our new area.
I visited you via Will Blog for Comments I linked up this week with = 10+11. This is a friendly reminder and invitation to come and join us at SeniorSalonPitStop. You will find the linkup information under BLOGGING.

    1. From my understanding, there are many locations in other states and countries. Best part of being a member, even if I were to travel, I can go to a weekly meeting where ever I may be!

  6. Congrats on your weight loss! We’ve tried WW a couple of times and after 20 lbs (me) and a bit more for hubby, we just couldn’t lose anymore. Very frustrating. So, I cut out all junk food, sugar, and salt and WOW! What a difference that made for me!! Hubby can’t seem to do that though. Speaking of cooking, I HATE to cook, hubby loves to cook.

    1. I am now working towards my 20. I’ll have to let you know how a do after that. I, too, would find it hard to give up all sugars. I’d be right there with your hubby!

      1. Giving up sugar was easy peasy, especially when my daughter’s oncologist told her that cancer feeds on sugar. And, this was not in the US, they actually feed sugary things to cancer patients here. If my daughter can give it up, so can I.

          1. Some fruits are full of sugar so you have to watch them, even if it’s ok for WW. However, I don’t know what her doctor would say. She eats a clean, healthy diet and the cancer is gone since she started eating healthy. Oncologists at 3 cancer hospitals here in the US scratch their heads, they are so puzzled. They keep urging her to get the body disfiguring surgery and to do chemo and radiation…although the cancer is gone! It’s all about money with the medical industrial complex that includes big pharma!!
