A Sea of Rocks | My Sunday Snapshot #9

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 9! Every week when I met up with Adam for our movie/dinner night, I stop into the Dollar General store. This particular store is rather new. The building looks nice and there are trees planted. The landscaping mainly consists of rocks around the trees. When you see it, no one would think twice. However, I did and each time I would go there I kept saying I ought to take a picture. I did this time! The interesting images taken are hidden in plain sight.

Topeka, KS Capitol | 101 in 1001

Topeka, KS Capitol | 101 in 1001

Hi, I had the fun experience while running an errand for my son. This errand took me to Topeka, KS. This city holds a special spot in my heart. First and foremost this is where my daughter and her family call home. Topeka is a city of history as well. #15 of my 101 in 1001 can be checked off!

While in Topeka I decided to visit the state capitol. The dome was my interest on this trip. For many years the dome was a lime green color. After the restoration, the dome is a dark brown. I wanted to get up close and see the changes.

This is how I remember it looking.

The images of Notable Kansans and of First Peoples were hanging on stone walls.

Briella, Brynlee and I were successful in climbing all 296 steps to the top of the dome!

We discovered after this climb, Brynlee is afraid of heights. Regardless, she was a trooper!

My Son’s Humor | My Sunday Snapshot #8

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 8! My son, Adam, and I get together once a week for a movie and dinner. The movie is either on Netflix or Prime Video. Dinner is usually some sort of homemade dinner, not frozen dinners or take out. However, we did get Casey’s pizza this week. Have you ever had Casey’s pizza? IMO- it’s the best! Our movie (one I selected this time), DeepWater Horizon.

Adam is a typical young man. I have to remind him that I do need to use the ‘ladies room’ occasionally. So I tell him to be sure nothing is laying around in the bathroom he may not want me to see. This time when I had to use the restroom, the image above show’s the scene I saw. My son’s humor!

What to Wear | April

What to Wear will feature different palettes providing ideas when you plan the wardrobe for individual pictures or your family images during the Spring season.

What to Wear | April features ideas for all family members: mom; dad; big brother; big sister and little brother and little sister. Have fun preparing your stylish look for family pictures!

It is not necessary to purchase new clothing for better images. When planning the wardrobe, do wash and dry the clothing. Immediately after drying, hang the clothes on a hanger. Or iron, if you like. The main goal is wrinkle free clothing.

Shoes do not need to be new either. New shoe laces is an inexpensive purchase to spruce up the look. Polishing leather or washing canvas shoes is another solution to brighten their appearance.

Have the socks match either the pants or shoes. This is important for anyone who may be sitting or squatting in the group. Imagine if the pants are navy blue, shoes white and you see bright green socks. Very distracting. Your eyes will go straight to the green socks and not the person’s face! However, if the socks were either white (matching shoes) or navy blue (matching pants), your eyes will flow over the person and land on the face/eyes of the person in the picture.
