Pleasant Surprise

Pleasant Surprise | My Sunday Snapshot #33

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot! The Good Lord does work in wonderful ways. I made a decision to leave my full time, 40 hour week job for a part time bus driver one. A huge decision for me. One of the things I enjoy is spending money. Well, working part time I won’t have the ‘extra’ 20 hours pay. The Good Lord has so far given me so much, pleasant surprise. Not just one, but many.

The featured image was taken at 4:30 am. Had I still be working that 40 hour job, I would never have seen this beautiful moon. The image does not do the actual scene justice. At least I have the memory, I took the shot!

I believe the Good Lord places people into your life, or you into someone else’s life for a reason. He definitely added three wonderful, beautiful students into mine.

Currently I am a para working on the SPED bus. We have two students who ride that I am responsible for securing their wheel chairs. One of my past jobs was with Kinedyne. When you think of Kinedyne, you can think of the movement of freight. A sister company of Kinedyne, Sure-Lok, manufactured straps to secure wheel chairs. Well, full circle. I am familiar with the straps on the SPED bus, these were made by Sure-Lok!

There are a total of three students that ride with me. Each one of them has a very special place in my heart. Had I stayed with the 40 hour job, I would never have met these girls.

Have a wonderful week!

Take Care. Best wishes, Debra

Semi Retired

Semi Retired | My Sunday Snapshot #32

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot! I am finding more and more things to do now that I am semi retired. Going from 40 hour work week to 20 hours is giving me so much more time to do as I wish and not because I have to. After my morning bus route, I stopped into the public library to work on my site and seen this poster.

Heck, yes. I am so doing this. I chose to paint a rock. This rock!

The evening was an absolute blast. I met new friends. Laughed. Laughed a lot! And best of all, I have the rocks as keep sakes of a fabulous memory. What was even better, it was free!

Are you retired or at the semi stage, same as me? What are some of the things you enjoy the most with your added personal/home time?

Have a wonderful week!

Cute & Little

Cute & Little | My Sunday Snapshot #31

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot! While working in my new school position, I noticed the school’s bike rack. All the cute little bicycles!

Did you notice? Not one of them is locked up. None! It must because this is considered a ‘small town’? Although it is not as small as it once used to be; Kansas City is just East of our town. More of the population is moving out of the big city to the surrounding areas. Drive time to the West side of Kansas City is just a short 25 to 45 minutes depending on where a person works.

Mysteries | My Sunday Snapshot #29

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot! Today I got up early, went to the grocery store. As I walked toward the entrance I happened to glance at the bike parked at the bike rack. Not exactly why it caught and kept my attention. But it did. It took a moment, but did you notice what grabbed me? The bike had no seat. I wondered if someone tried to steal it. So I walked up closer.

I was more surprised. Now the mysteries are really rolling through my thoughts. 🙂

Kansas Comfort

Kansas Comfort | My Sunday Snapshot #26

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot #26. I had the most wonderful time visiting and photographing a lovely young lady, Cresinda. Senior Portraits! As I have mentioned, I am a ‘retired’ professional photographer. However, if any of my past clients/friends request that I take their photo, I am pleased to do so. This was such an occasion. The featured photo and the ones posted below were taken with my iPhone. The actual images for Cresinda’s gallery were taken with my Nikon. I must say I was quite pleased with the phone pictures.

Commercial Driver’s License

Commercial Driver’s License | My Sunday Snapshot #25

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 25!

This week my image is more about a change. This change was unexpected. Currently, I work 9 to 5:30 from home. This isn’t too bad one may say. For me, not the best. In no near future will I be able to work the open shift, 7 to 3:30. when I did have this shift, I was able to be in the pool by 4. Get an hour in the late afternoon sun. As it is now, the pool is mostly in the shade. I am 60, my kids are grown and I am only working for the health insurance. Otherwise I would be ‘retired’. Okay, rant over.

One of the local towns I drive thru to get to Lawrence is Tonganoxie. One day in July I had seen a huge sign that the school needs school bus drivers. Ding, ding 🙂 With an inquiring mind, I went to the USD website and looked up the description. Full time is 20 hours a week. One can select either the health insurance or vision/dental insurance premium to be covered 100%. It would be split shift, morning route and an after school route. but I would have 4 hours between the two shifts I can be floating in the water 🙂 There would also be the occasions for extra driving time with school activities. I completed the online application. So we will see. I’ll keep you posted.

One more little rant. After picking up the CDL manual and reading; there is a section on Road Rage. I found this interesting. Many times I wonder if other drivers (especially the ones out of driver’s ed) knows this. On highway’s with more than one lane traveling the same direction, the left lane is for passing, not to just drive in. Did you know this?

Here is more from Flo (Progressive).
