What to Wear | March 2

What to Wear will feature different palettes providing ideas when you plan the wardrobe for individual pictures or your family images during the holiday gatherings.

What to Wear | March 2 features ideas for all family members: mom; dad; big brother; big sister and little brother and little sister. Have fun preparing your stylish look for family pictures!

It is not necessary to purchase new clothing for better images. When planning the wardrobe, do wash and dry the clothing. Immediately after drying, hang the clothes on a hanger. Or iron, if you like. The main goal is wrinkle free clothing.

Shoes do not need to be new either. New shoe laces is an inexpensive purchase to spruce up the look. Polishing leather or washing canvas shoes is another solution to brighten their appearance.

Have the socks match either the pants or shoes. This is important for anyone who may be sitting or squatting in the group. Imagine if the pants are navy blue, shoes white and you see bright green socks. Very distracting. Your eyes will go straight to the green socks and not the person’s face! However, if the socks were either white (matching shoes) or navy blue (matching pants), your eyes will flow over the person and land on the face/eyes of the person in the picture.

Take Care. Best wishes, Debra

Generations | My Sunday Snapshot #40

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot! Family time. I truly enjoy family time. My mother rarely likes to have her picture taken. This time was different. Here is a picture showing the four generations of ladies in my family.

We were sitting in the living room and my daughter suggested we stand up from shortest to tallest. My phone was in my purse. As we were getting in line, I rushed to get my phone. Tossed it over to my son-in-law. Asked him to take the shot. He did!

Erika (daughter) had Briella (grand daughter) stand beside my mother. Briella has gained some height in the past several months. She’s the tallest of us now!!

Years ago my mother had collected many different pictures of family members. She cut around the people in the image eliminating excess space. She then put them all together, creating a collage of sorts. Framed the collage. She was pointing out people and naming them for Brynlee.

Have a wonderful week!

Pretty Snow? | My Sunday Snapshot #38

Hi, welcome to my Sunday snapshot! We just got another round of snow. When it first arrives it’s very pretty. The second day is pretty. But as time ticks, is snow pretty? IMO, not at all!

Oh, I absolutely enjoy fresh snow: prior to the dog finding just the ‘right’ spot to do her duty; before the roads are clear; parking lots with piles high of pushed snow. Here in my part of Kansas we still had piles left over from our last blizzard January 2025.

In town, the snow turns a horrible color and seems to linger forever. At home, the snow on the gravel roads tend to turn the same color as the gravel from all the dust being stirred up from driving down the roads.

I am so, oh so, ready for spring! 🙂

Have a wonderful week!

Sources of Strength

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 36! This weekend I had the opportunity to drive the high school wrestling team to a tournament. What a fun experience. The hosting high school had a hospitality room that was very nice. If you have not been to a wrestling match, they are an all day event. The hospitality room provided a nice breakfast and then lunch. Quite a nice selection of meats: chicken, pulled pork and sausage.

The food was delicious!

While at the school, I noticed in the commons room/lunch araa there was this sign posted on the wall. Nothing fancy, just a plain piece of paper taped to the wall. What an inspiration! I knew I wanted to feature this collage of images for this week’s My Sunday Snapshot.

What an awesome idea!

Four weeks ago I became a Student Delivery Specialist (School Bus Driver 🙂 ), Not a day goes by that I regret making the work change. It was a learning curve for sure with fear and wonderful experiences. If interested, read about it here.

I met two other drivers at the tournament hospitality room, Sylvia and Jerry. Maybe our bus trails will cross again!!

New friends
New friends.

It’s never too late to make a work change. Even as they say, can’t teach an old dog new tricks is NOT true. Keep an open mind, be accepting to making mistakes (learn from them) and most of all, have fun. Trust me, you will be glad you did!

Have a wonderful week!

Ring Around the Moon

my snapshot 35 old wives tale

Ring Around the Moon

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 35!

We have experienced a monthly low rain average. It was a wonderful night seeing this moon. Notice the ring around the moon? The ring is an Old Wives’ Tale. The old wives’ tale about a ring around the moon is that it signifies rain is coming soon. Kevin’s father had said this many times throughout Kevin’s childhood. After searching the internet, the ring, called a lunar halo, is usually caused by high cirrus clouds which often precede a storm system. The next day we did get much needed rain!

Have you ever seen such a ring?

Have a wonderful week!

Who Said Redneck?

Who Said Redneck?

Hi! This just happened about 15 minutes ago, a revelation. You know you are a redneck when you use a Shopvac to vacuum your living room. Do you know what a Shopvac is? It’s typically used commercially. Kevin uses these on his construction jobs. We are hosting our family Thanksgiving tomorrow (Saturday). Of course I wait until the very last to do my final cleaning. The weather has been just cold enough at night, we have started using the wood stove. If you burn wood, you probably know just how dirty it can get. Kevin brought the Shopvac in for me to use. It did a fabulous job. Even worked great on collecting the dust from the drapes!

Pulling out the arsenal!

Here’s to a Thanksgiving full of family, friends and many blessings!
