Hi, my day began great. I made a chocolate banana smoothie and it was delicious. This set the day off to a wonderful start. For this being a Monday, this small delight was greatly welcomed! For this, I am very grateful.

I had heard of smoothies, but I have never had one. Imagine that! Well, I went to Amazon and bought the Nutribullet Personal Blender. Looked up a Weight Watchers recipe and decided next time my grand daughters came over, I’d have them show me how to use the blender. They have smoothies quite often at their house and I knew Brie would be able to show me!

Did you notice I said chocolate banana smoothie? Chocolate and Weight Watchers do not play well with each other point wise. The recipe called for Whey (protein) and specifically chocolate whey. I had no idea what this was. Let alone if I would like it. And the kicker was, it is expensive, yikes! 😲

Yesterday while Brie was following the recipe, she advised me that you don’t need a recipe, ‘Just add what ever you want, Grandma.’ 😂 Well, this morning I altered the recipe. It called for water 6 oz and then 6 oz milk. Today I did not add the water instead used 12 oz milk. I enjoyed the flavor this morning more so than yesterday’s smoothie.

Here is the altered recipe I used to make my delicious chocolate banana smoothie.

In order shown add the following:

1 percent milk
First add 12 oz milk.
chocolate whey
Next add one scoop of the chocolate whey.
bananas
Last add 1/2 of medium banana.

The next time I make a smoothie, I will try adding frozen fruit. Per my Google search, the frozen fruit will thicken the drink. I will be doing more searches for smoothies. This new found favorite has me excited to try different variations!

Take Care. Best wishes, Debra

Hi, this was a wonderful weekend. Simply perfect weather, family time and good food! I am grateful for the time spent with my husband, son, daughter, son n law and grand girls.

Shaune (son n law) will be going pheasant hunting opening weekend and wanted to get Hazel (German short hair) some training/practice in prior to the hunting weekend. So they came out to work Hazel. Of course Kevin and I was happy to have them out. I called Adam to invite him over and he also joined us.

Erika and her family went down to the pond/cabin before we ate dinner. She shared the above images with me. After they finished working Hazel they came back to the house and we ate the roast lunch Kevin made. Yesterday we had green bean casserole left over from his work’s picnic. We finished that up with the roast. Good food today and yesterday!

Not often do we get Kevin in photos. Erika had taken the below image as well. I appreciate any time and any image taken of Kevin.

Hi, it’s my Day 15 in 31. Today I am grateful for a girls day out! Linda and I went to Powell Gardens.

This is an absolutely beautiful place. The collage above features the chapel that is part of Powell Gardens. The day we were there, the chapel was going to close to the public at 3pm for a wedding. And what a lovely, perfect day for the wedding and wedding pictures. Not too hot for the bride and groom/wedding party for outdoor pictures. And certainly warm enough for the guests to mingle outside for the reception. If I were not with Linda, I would truly have been a wedding crasher that evening! 🙂

Once we arrived, parked and bought our admission tickets, we headed to the chapel first. This was a good walk. Beautiful things to see the whole way. We came upon a young lady having her senior pictures taken. Unlike the bride and groom who more than likely would have many layers on, this high school senior had on a short summer dress. A cold day for that dress!

As we were walking, a maintenance worker was driving a golf course coming towards us. Well, I stuck my thumb out like a hitch hiker. He stopped. We asked for a ride back to the visitor building. He did better than that. He gave us a guided tour of the 45 acre botanical gardens!

Hi, it’s Day 11 in the practicing gratitude in October. I am grateful for date night.
Seldom can I get Kevin to go on vacations and real dates. We had a real date! 🙂

The wedding I crashed a few weeks ago was at the Lidia’s Italian Restaurant. Lidia and the restaurant celebrated their 25th anniversary. Before leaving the wedding, I booked a reservation for me and Kevin. This was our real date 🙂

I did good! Kevin had a wonderful time. He watches cooking shows on the weekend. Lidia is one of those shows. Normally Kevin will not let anyone take pictures of him. He runs when the camera is pulled out. On our drive to dinner, I asked for one picture of the two of us. He agreed. I was a happy wife!

Dinner was delicious. The one picture I missed taking was of the menu.

What to Wear | October

October | wow

What to Wear | October

What to Wear will feature different palettes providing ideas when you plan the wardrobe for individual pictures or your family images during the holiday gatherings.

What to Wear | October features ideas for all family members: mom; dad; big brother; big sister and little brother and little sister. Have fun preparing your stylish look for family pictures!

It is not necessary to purchase new clothing for better images. When planning the wardrobe, do wash and dry the clothing. Immediately after drying, hang the clothes on a hanger. Or iron, if you like. The main goal is wrinkle free clothing.

Shoes do not need to be new either. New shoe laces is an inexpensive purchase to spruce up the look. Polishing leather or washing canvas shoes is another solution to brighten their appearance.

Have the socks match either the pants or shoes. This is important for anyone who may be sitting or squatting in the group. Imagine if the pants are navy blue, shoes white and you see bright green socks. Very distracting. Your eyes will go straight to the green socks and not the person’s face! However, if the socks were either white (matching shoes) or navy blue (matching pants), your eyes will flow over the person and land on the face/eyes of the person in the picture.
