Frozen Bananas | My Sunday Snapshot

frozen bananas

My Sunday Snapshot 6

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 6!

When I discovered frozen bananas it was when I was in the grocery store in the freezer section. I was looking for frozen fruits for my morning smoothies. The frozen banana and strawberry package caught my attention. Later I realized it is cheaper to buy bunches of bananas and cut them up myself.

Before and After!

The bananas do stick together when I place them in the freezer. Once the bag of bananas have frozen, I simply break them apart while they are in the bag by tapping the bag on the counter. When I first started freezing them, I would use a cookie sheet layered with parchment paper. Well, now I add the cut bananas right into the freezer bag. Much easier and quicker.

Have a wonderful week!

Calves Part 2

Calves Part 2 | My Sunday Snapshot

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot #5! A couple weeks ago I visited the calves for the first time since they were weened from their momma. They would not let me get close to them. This visit was much different. I had to be quiet and move slow. Just standing at the gate, I held out my hand. The little brown calve came right up to me and licked my hand!

Then this bigger calve (much bigger) gained interest. He was at the back of the group and made his way to the front. I was a bit frightened. These cows can get big. And these calves are fed well to gain weight.

Once I was able to calm my inner feelings, I held out my hand to the big guy. Slowly he approached.

Smoked Cheese | My Sunday Snapshot 4

Smoked Cheese

My Sunday Snapshot 4

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 4! Kevin enjoys cooking out on the grill. This time he smoked cheese. Have you ever had home smoked cheese? Let me tell you, it’s good! My husband and son-in-law were talking about it after deer hunting last Fall. About how smoked cheese would go well with the deer sausage. Neither had smoked cheese before. Kevin bought several kinds of cheese, sharp cheddar, Swiss and a few others. Kevin smoked the cheese twice. After the first time smoking, he wrapped the cheese to cure in the refrigerator a couple weeks before smoking it the second time. This weekend we ate some of the cheese with the deer sausage. The sharp cheddar was my favorite out of them all.

Have a wonderful week!

Calves | My Sunday Snapshot 3

Hi, what a beautiful morning! I walked up to the barn where Kevin was hanging out. And on the walk, I looked over to the cows. They were all lined up. The sun was just a bit behind them to make their faces dark, but I still liked how they were in a line and looking at me. These cows were recently moved to our front pasture. This was done to ween the calves from their momma.

Have a wonderful week!

What to Wear | January

What to Wear January

What to Wear | January

What to Wear will feature different palettes providing ideas when you plan the wardrobe for individual pictures or your family images during the holiday gatherings.

What to Wear | January features ideas for all family members: mom; dad; big brother; big sister and little brother and little sister. Have fun preparing your stylish look for family pictures!

It is not necessary to purchase new clothing for better images. When planning the wardrobe, do wash and dry the clothing. Immediately after drying, hang the clothes on a hanger. Or iron, if you like. The main goal is wrinkle free clothing.

Shoes do not need to be new either. New shoe laces is an inexpensive purchase to spruce up the look. Polishing leather or washing canvas shoes is another solution to brighten their appearance.

Have the socks match either the pants or shoes. This is important for anyone who may be sitting or squatting in the group. Imagine if the pants are navy blue, shoes white and you see bright green socks. Very distracting. Your eyes will go straight to the green socks and not the person’s face! However, if the socks were either white (matching shoes) or navy blue (matching pants), your eyes will flow over the person and land on the face/eyes of the person in the picture.

Photo Ideas | Photography Tip

Hi, have you ever looked through your feed on your camera or phone and thought, “why don’t my pictures look as good as I thought they would in my head?” or “how can I get my pictures to look better?” Don’t worry, we all do it.

Today I am going to give you a list of must have photo ideas to use on your next vacation, at your next family get-together, or special occasion to make your pictures fun, meaningful and more pleasing to the eye.

1.  Give your picture a “pop” of color and/or contrast.  For example, if you rented a red car on vacation, park next to a grey or white building and snap a photo.

2. Shoot from a different angle. Photos don’t always need to be straight on. Try an above or below angle to switch things up.

3. Add little memories to your photo. For example, take a photo of your ice cream cone in front of the famous ice cream shop.

4. Make people look little. Shooting from far away or at an elevated location, making people look little gives your photo big impact.

5. Golden hour photos (when the sun is just over the horizon) are always a treasure.
