October Highlights

Hi, welcome to Gma’sPhoto! I am changing my One Sentence a Day to the month’s Highlights. October is probably my most favorite month of the year. I’m eager to share these moments with you!

Now that I have passed the general Commercial Drivers License (CDL) test and have my CDL permit, I actually get to drive the bus.

Sharing same no school days with the grand girls. Many of our days off match up and I am so excited. October 17 and 18 were such days! We went to the zoo, picked up Brynlee’s eyeglasses and went rock hunting.

Pleasant Surprise | My Sunday Snapshot #33

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot! The Good Lord does work in wonderful ways. I made a decision to leave my full time, 40 hour week job for a part time bus driver one. A huge decision for me. One of the things I enjoy is spending money. Well, working part time I won’t have the ‘extra’ 20 hours pay. The Good Lord has so far given me so much, pleasant surprise. Not just one, but many.

The featured image was taken at 4:30 am. Had I still be working that 40 hour job, I would never have seen this beautiful moon. The image does not do the actual scene justice. At least I have the memory, I took the shot!

I believe the Good Lord places people into your life, or you into someone else’s life for a reason. He definitely added three wonderful, beautiful students into mine.

Currently I am a para working on the SPED bus. We have two students who ride that I am responsible for securing their wheel chairs. One of my past jobs was with Kinedyne. When you think of Kinedyne, you can think of the movement of freight. A sister company of Kinedyne, Sure-Lok, manufactured straps to secure wheel chairs. Well, full circle. I am familiar with the straps on the SPED bus, these were made by Sure-Lok!

There are a total of three students that ride with me. Each one of them has a very special place in my heart. Had I stayed with the 40 hour job, I would never have met these girls.

What to Wear | September 2

What to Wear will feature different palettes providing ideas when you plan the wardrobe for individual pictures or your family images during the holiday gatherings.

What to Wear | September 2 features ideas for all family members: mom; dad; big brother; big sister and little brother and little sister. Have fun preparing your stylish look for family pictures!

It is not necessary to purchase new clothing for better images. When planning the wardrobe, do wash and dry the clothing. Immediately after drying, hang the clothes on a hanger. Or iron, if you like. The main goal is wrinkle free clothing.

Shoes do not need to be new either. New shoe laces is an inexpensive purchase to spruce up the look. Polishing leather or washing canvas shoes is another solution to brighten their appearance.

Have the socks match either the pants or shoes. This is important for anyone who may be sitting or squatting in the group. Imagine if the pants are navy blue, shoes white and you see bright green socks. Very distracting. Your eyes will go straight to the green socks and not the person’s face! However, if the socks were either white (matching shoes) or navy blue (matching pants), your eyes will flow over the person and land on the face/eyes of the person in the picture.

Realistic | My Sunday Snapshot #27

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 27! I had a lunch date with my friend, Cris, yesterday. I had taken her wedding pictures last year. We try to get together every 2 to 3 months. The Legends is half way for us to meet. Wonderful place to meet. After lunch we walked thru the moll and visited many of the stores. Girls and shopping, what else can I say 🙂

Checking out several clothing stores, we finally went into Maurices. I typically shop Wal-Mart, yep. Well, the one thing I noticed was all the signage. Not just here, but at all the clothing stores. It was here, I saw more realistic posters. The featured image, in my opinion, is a better representation of the ‘average’ female person. They had the slender models in other posters. It was just refreshing to see ‘this’ poster and the one below. I felt more comfortable seeing them 🙂

Evel Knievel Museum

Hi, welcome to Gma’sPhoto! Do you know who Evel Knievel is? My grand girls had no idea. Back in the 70’s I was in grade/middle school. I remember him as the one who rode motorcycles and got hurt! The Evel Knievel Museum is currently located in Topeka, KS. That’s in my back yard so to speak. My daughter and her husband was headed to western KS for the weekend. I had the whole weekend with my girls! 🙂

Kevin and I were talking about the weekend and what we could do with the girls. This museum came up in our conversation. Evel Knievel Museum will be open in Topeka until November 2, 2024 and then will relocate to Las Vegas in 2025. This will be a good time to visit Evel Knievel while it is still local!

For the one who rode motorcycles and got hurt, see just how many times!

For who is Evel Knievel, here is a bit of info about him.

Evel Knievel was the first live person to be featured as a “Super Hero” action figure. Evel made more from his royalties than from his daredevil stunts.

Oh, the museum exited thru the Harley Davidson Dealership. I found my next ride. It would be a special order color, powder pink….

Topeka, KS Capitol | 101 in 1001

Topeka, KS Capitol | 101 in 1001

Hi, I had the fun experience while running an errand for my son. This errand took me to Topeka, KS. This city holds a special spot in my heart. First and foremost this is where my daughter and her family call home. Topeka is a city of history as well. #15 of my 101 in 1001 can be checked off!

While in Topeka I decided to visit the state capitol. The dome was my interest on this trip. For many years the dome was a lime green color. After the restoration, the dome is a dark brown. I wanted to get up close and see the changes.

The images of Notable Kansans and of First Peoples were hanging on stone walls.

Briella, Brynlee and I were successful in climbing all 296 steps to the top of the dome!
