Road Construction | My Sunday Snapshot #22

Hi, welcome to My Sunday Snapshot 22! After our July Summer Party, I drove Adam home. Seems like every year the City of Lawrence always has some sort of road construction taking place. This year it is affecting my drive time each drive thru Lawerence. Each store I shop, my parents home and where Adam is living is on the north side of Lawrence. The road under construction is 6th street (40 HWY).

It’s a long street!

Each intersection stop light must be synced the whole stretch of the street. The speed limit is 25, the drive is non stop which is nice. If the travel was stopped at each or every other intersection, the traffic would be horrible. As it is, it’s tolerable.

Have a wonderful week!

Take Care. Best wishes, Debra

  1. I feel like ALL our roads are under construction all summer long. We can’t get anywhere without seeing at least one flagger with part of a road/lane closed.

  2. Road construction is always a hassle, but it sounds like Lawrence handles it well. The synchronized stoplights are a great idea.

Have a great week ahead, Debra!

    1. Hi there, Patrick. Yes road constructions is a pain but it would be worse if the upkeep was not done!
      Have a wonderful week.
      Take care and best wishes.

  3. Great shot!

As much as road work is an inconvenience, it’s so necessary and awesome in the long run. We have road construction here too. I have a feeling most places do, because of the infrastructure bill passed near the beginning of Biden’s presidency.

    1. Lawrence, KS is a really beautiful city. I never knew just how pretty until I was older and did more traveling. Lawrence seems to do alot of road work in the summer. When Fall rolls around we have the college (KU) kids returning. Roads are less traveled in the summer. Lawrence is smart!!
